To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what recent assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the work of the Criminal Cases Review Commission.

The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) is an independent body, and as such its effectiveness is not measured by my Department. My officials have a sponsorship role and the CCRC report to the Ministry of Justice on a regular basis; as such I am fully appraised of the performance of the Criminal Cases Review Commission. The CCRC provide an annual report which can be found on their website.
