To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the Welsh Government’s initiative on free breakfasts in primary schools; and what steps they will take to ensure that more schools provide breakfast clubs for pupils.

The Government has not made a formal assessment of the Welsh Government’s initiative on free breakfasts in primary schools.

Provision of breakfast was one of the issues considered in the independent School Food Plan. In response to the Plan’s recommendations, the Government is now funding the setting up of self-sustaining breakfast clubs in 184 schools in England which have free school meal entitlement of 35% or higher.
