Department for Education written question – answered at on 2 December 2014.
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what the minimum requirements are for an initial Local Offer.
The statutory requirement on a local authority from 1 September 2014 is to consult when it is preparing its Local Offer and to publish that Local Offer following consultation.
Since local authorities have, for some time, been required to publish different information about support for children and young people who are disabled or have special educational needs, the Department for Education encouraged them to publish information in September 2104 and work with children, young people and parents to develop and update it, so that it could be included in the Local Offer which was prepared. The Local Offer will be reviewed, kept up to date and developed over time.
