Department for Culture Media and Sport written question – answered on 12th September 2014.
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what discussions (a) he and (b) Ofcom have had with BT on increases in charges for line rental and broadband products.
I have regular discussions with BT on a range of matters. However, BT did not raise with me their recent increases in retail charges for line rental and broadband products, which are commercial matters. Neither has Ofcom had discussions with BT relating to these price rises.
The UK has one of the most competitive markets for telecoms services in the world and as such BT customers who are concerned about BT’s price increases should be able to find alternative services to suit their requirements.
