To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what work the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission does to promote the availability of its scholarships to students resident in Northern Ireland.

The scholarships offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK are for citizens of other Commonwealth countries to study in the United Kingdom, or for UK qualifications. UK citizens resident in the United Kingdom are not eligible for these awards.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
