To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the Written Answer by Baroness Randerson on 7 July (WA 16) concerning the release of prisoners in Northern Ireland as a result of the Belfast Agreement of 1998, why the records of those released were not already available in a consolidated form.

Following the devolution of policing and justice powers in April 2010, records received from the Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS) at that time were not in a consolidated format. As the previous response indicates, NIO officials are now undertaking a consolidation exercise in conjunction with the NIPS.
