House of Lords written question – answered on 25th June 2014.
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what steps they are taking to ensure that people with diabetes are able to access innovative medicines.
We want to ensure that patients, including those with diabetes, have access to new and effective treatments on terms that represent value to the National Health Service and the taxpayer.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has recommended a number of medicines for diabetes. National Health Service commissioners are legally required by regulations to fund those medicines recommended by NICE in its technology appraisal guidance.
