To ask the Secretary of State for Justice
(1) how many fines have been (a) paid, (b) collected and (c) reduced for alcohol-related motoring offences in each of the last four years;
(2) how many fines have been (a) paid, (b) collected and (c) reduced for motoring speeding offences in each of the last four years.
Shailesh Vara
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice
It is not possible to identify from Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals systems how many fines have been (a) paid, (b) collected and (c) reduced for specific offences. This information could be provided only at disproportionate cost as identifying this would require a manual search of all fine accounts.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
