To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many staff work in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills on the issue of unsafe cabling being imported into and installed in the United Kingdom.

The Product Regulation team in the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) have two people that work on electrical product safety; they also work on a number of other product safety areas. While BIS has responsibility for the legislation, enforcement is carried out by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) with regard to business products and Trading Standards Services for consumer products.
