To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what his policy is on the introduction of an elected mayor for the Greater Manchester combined authority.
In our White Paper response to Lord Heseltine's report on promoting economic growth, we stated that we would seek legislation for mayors of conurbations, such as Greater Manchester, where the councils concerned wanted this; no councils have asked for this.
