In order to ensure compliance with the specific requirements of the Public Service Vehicles Accessibility Regulations 2000 (PSVAR), the Department for Transport funds inspection work undertaken by vehicle examiners from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. In order to understand overall compliance trends, the Department also monitors latest survey statistics, which as of September 2013 show that 78% of buses in England have PSVAR certificates, while 92% of buses are low floor.
