To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs if he will bring forward proposals to re-introduce the National Rivers Authority staffed with civil and flood engineers.

The Triennial Review of the Environment Agency concluded in June 2013 that the organisation should be retained with its current purpose and statutory role. There are no immediate plans to review this.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
