To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what estimate his Department has made of the average consumption of energy for hot water and heating of a (a) two bedroom terrace house, (b) three bedroom semi-detached house and (c) four bedroom detached house.

The average consumption of energy for hot water and space heating in 2012 was 15,377 kWh per household within the UK.

Average consumption figures have been derived from dividing total consumption for hot water and heating figures (from Table 3.05 of Energy Consumption in the UK:

https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-household-projections

(Department for Communities and Local Government)).

These figures are not available by type of household.
