Justice written question – answered on 3rd March 2014.
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice on which occasions tornado-trained staff have been used to deal with disturbances in each prison since 2010.
Operation Tornado is terminology used by the National Offender Management Service to describe mutual aid arrangements across the prison estate in England and Wales. These arrangements are in place to assist establishments responding to serious incidents, such as acts of concerted indiscipline by providing specially trained resources above and beyond those already available at an establishment.
