To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the total investment of British banks in the national debt for (a) Greece, (b) Spain, (c) Italy and (d) Ireland.
Data on external claims of UK-owned monetary financial institutions, and of their branches and subsidiaries abroad, are available on the Bank of England website at:

These data include UK banking groups' direct exposures to the entire public sectors of Greece, Spain, Italy and Ireland.
