To ask Her Majesty’s Government what steps they are taking to ensure that the current work by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Natural England on preparing the New Environmental Land Management Scheme will include maintaining and enhancing landscape character as a key priority alongside biodiversity and the improvement of water quality.

Defra is consulting delivery bodies and stakeholders to ensure that the new environmental land management scheme delivers against a range of environmental objectives and priorities, including landscape character. However, final decisions on priorities have yet to be taken.
