To ask the Secretary of State for Education what proportion of children in England in 2012-13 failed to get a GCSE grade A*-C in both English and mathematics.
The requested information is published in the “GCSE and equivalent results in England, 2012 to 2013 (revised)1” statistical first release. It is available in table 2 in the “National tables: SFR01/2014” document.
40.1% of pupils at the end of key stage 4 did not achieve English and mathematics GCSEs at grade A*-C in 2012/13 academic year compared with 46.0% in 2009/10.
