To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether information on the treatment and diagnosis of sensitive health conditions will be excluded from the care.data extraction of patient data.

The Health and Social Care Information Centre will exclude from the care.data extraction any clinical data entries that contain “sensitive” codes as defined in the current sensitive data standard published by the Independent Standards Board. Work is also under way to consult bodies such as the Royal Colleges, British Medical Association and patient groups to update the current standard and to ensure that any new codes created since the publication of the existing standard are identified and included.
