To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what proportion of the office space owned or leased by his Department is not in regular use; what the total (a) rental and (b) retail value is of all such unused office space; and if he will place in the Library a copy of his most recent departmental real estate valuation.
Departmental office space is regularly used. Where any excess office space is identified it is disposed of or is subject to lease termination.
The value of the estate is published in the Ministry of Defence's Annual Report and Accounts within the Statement of Financial Position-Property, Plant and Equipment category. The most recent published report is for financial year 2012-13, this is available at:
