To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of the benefits to treatment and care quality of making health records available for medical research.

The benefits to treatment and care of making anonymised and linked patient records available to researchers, protecting patient confidentiality, are set out in the ‘Plan for Growth’, the ‘Strategy for UK Life Sciences’ and the NHS Chief Executive's report ‘Innovation Health and Wealth’.
