Transport written question – answered at on 23 January 2014.
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many times since May 2010 he has used his statutory powers to require train operators to comply with the terms of their franchise agreements to use reasonable endeavours to ensure that passengers do not have to queue at a ticket office for more than five minutes during periods of peak demand or for more than three minutes at any other time.
The Secretary of State for Transport, my right hon. Friend Mr McLoughlin, expects operators to comply with these requirements and will take appropriate action, including enforcement action, where it is necessary to do so. Enforcement powers have not been used since May 2010 because it has not been necessary to do so.
