To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the economic and industrial effect of the current instability in Bangladesh.

Violence and instability are damaging to Bangladesh's reputation, economy, and to people's livelihoods. As the largest cumulative investor in Bangladesh, and the largest bilateral grant donor, the UK supports the people of Bangladesh in their aspirations for a more stable, democratic and prosperous future. We are therefore concerned that the IMF expects growth to fall from 6% in 2013 to 5.5% in 2014, partly due to the uncertainty and the impact of elections.
