Deputy Prime Minister written question – answered on 14th January 2014.
To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what provision has been made for local authorities to register people through local databases.
Electoral registration officers are able to use data held by their local authority in order to identify potential electors. With the transition to individual electoral registration in June 2014, all existing electors will be matched against records held by the DWP, and if successfully matched, ‘confirmed' on the register. Local authorities can also ‘confirm' their electors using local data.
