To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the effect that gathering of information on the Gibraltar border situation by the Government, in collaboration with the Gibraltar Government, and the forwarding of that information to the European Commission has had on reducing border delays.

The UK Government, in collaboration with HM Government of Gibraltar, submitted information to the European Commission on the delays at the Gibraltar-Spain border. The Commission subsequently followed up with a technical visit on 25 September, which resulted in recommendations to the Spanish Government on ways to improve the functioning of the border. HM Government of Gibraltar have taken action to implement their recommendations from the Commission and we fully expect Spain to do the same.
