To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many cases there were of (a) meningitis C in 1998 and (b) meningitis B in 2012.

Public Health England surveillance data indicate that there were (a) 815 laboratory confirmed cases of meningitis C in England and Wales in 1998 and (b) 611 laboratory confirmed cases of meningitis B in England and Wales in 2012.
