To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reports he has received on the acquisition of Russian-made Yakhont anti-ship cruise missiles from the Government of Syria by Hezbollah.

The UK is aware of media reports that the Syrian Government ordered the coastal defence version of the Yakhont system from Russia in 2007 and received the first batteries in early 2011. Russia has continued to supply weaponry to a regime that has shown itself to be incapable of using its weapons systems proportionately or discriminately. Since 15 December, the regime has continued to use SCUD missiles and barrel bombs on Aleppo, leaving more than 700 dead, many of whom were children.
