The Government is promoting confidence in the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) by strengthening its powers and giving it further resources.

New powers for the IPCC are contained in the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill. In 2014-15, the Government are providing £18 million from the police settlement to increase the IPCC's ability to deal with all serious and sensitive cases involving the police.
