To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they intend to adopt a multi-year funding settlement for local authorities aligned to the fixed terms of Parliament in order to support local authorities with their financial planning.

We currently have no plans to align local government finance settlements with Parliamentary terms. The new Business Rates Retention scheme offers certainty and predictability for local authorities in the local share of business rates, which remains unchanged until reset except for annual uprates in line with the Small Business Rates multiplier.
