To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he will consider amending the Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy to take stronger measures against the intensive use of antibiotics in farming.

The UK Five Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy, which was published on 10 September this year, promotes the need for the responsible use of antibiotics in all sectors, including farming. We are developing outcome measures to assess the impact of the strategy in the different sectors, including the veterinary sector. These will be considered by the cross Government High Level Steering Group, which will oversee implementation, and is due to meet shortly.
