To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of improvements in Sudanese policing and prisons as a result of United Kingdom funding for those services.

The UK does not directly fund the Sudanese police or prison service. The UK does support the training of police through an independent service provider with the aim of building the capacity of the police to increase the coverage, accessibility and effectiveness of services offered to citizens. Close monitoring of the programme shows some progress on policing at the local level in a difficult environment.
