Defence written question – answered on 11th November 2013.
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence pursuant to the answer of 8 October 2013, Official Report, column 34W, on military intelligence, for what reason Crossbow capability is only delivered from RAF Marham in Norfolk by personnel of the RAF Tactical Imagery-Intelligence Wing using RAF Tornados and not by UK unmanned aerial vehicle operations. [R]
RAF Marham is the home base of the service's tactical air imagery analysis specialists and Crossbow has been located with the most appropriately qualified and experienced personnel. The Crossbow capability conducts near real time imagery analysis of Full Motion Video collected by a range of UK and USAF Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) assets.
