To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many incidents of ground water pollution his Department recorded in each year for which data is available.
The Environment Agency receives reports of over 23,000 incidents of pollution to land, air and water each year. These are recorded on the National Incident Recording System.
The Environment Agency is unable to provide the number of pollution incidents that involve groundwater only due to disproportionate cost. However, details of reported pollution incidents for water are:
