To ask Her Majesty’s Government what discussions they have had about the provision of an air link to St Helena; and what assessment they have made of whether they will need to provide a subsidy for such a link.

Informal discussions have been held with a number of airlines and charter companies. A company has now been appointed to assist the St Helena Government in contracting air services by the time the airport opens in 2016. It is intended that the services will be provided on a commercial basis.
