To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what report he has received from First Great Western on the reasons for 500 passengers being kept on a stranded train in Wiltshire for nearly six hours on 5 August 2013; and if he will make a statement.
This was a serious issue that affected many passengers. Operational matters of this nature are, in the first instance, a matter for the train operator and Network Rail. First Great Western are conducting a full investigation with a view to learning lessons from this incident We have received verbal updates from First Great Western.
