To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what steps she is taking to ensure that the role of women in civil society is given prominence in the successor to the Millennium Development Goals.

The UK has placed securing a better future for girls and women at the heart of its development assistance and will continue to do so.

The UK strongly supports the recommendations of the High Level Panel (HLP) report for a standalone Post-2015 goal on gender equality and girls' and women's empowerment as well as mainstreaming throughout, including the target to eliminate discrimination against women in political, economic, and public life.
