To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills how many small and medium-sized enterprises in Berkshire have started exporting to a new market for the first time as a direct result of the work of UK Trade and Industry South East in the last (a) 12 months and (b) two years.

In the last 12 months (from September 2012 to August 2013), the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) South East International Trade Team supported 175 enterprises from Berkshire to export overseas. 30 of these were supported through the Passport to Export programme, 21 through the Gateway to Global Growth programme and 124 through other significant one-to-one assistance by the South East International Trade Advisers.

In the 12 months prior (from September 2011 to August 2012), the UKTI South East International Trade Team supported 114 enterprises from Berkshire to export overseas. 17 of these were supported through the Passport to Export programme, 18 through the Gateway to Global Growth programme and 79 through other significant one-to-one assistance by the South East International Trade Advisers. We do not capture data on new export markets.
