To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change how much was paid in constraint payments by National Grid in each year from 2009; and what proportion of such payments were received by (a) windfarms and (b) gas-fired power stations.
Total constraint payments for generators of all types since 2009 are as follows:

The Department does not hold data on the breakdown of constraint payments for each type of technology. National Grid has advised that details of most individual constraint payments to generators are published at:
