Mr Aamer's case remains a high priority for the British Government. We continue to make clear to our US counterparts that we want him released and returned to the UK as a matter of urgency. The Prime Minister raised his case with President Obama at the G8 Summit in Northern Ireland in June. He later wrote to President Obama reaffirming the importance the UK places on Mr Aamer's release and return. I made representations to the US Secretary of State on two separate occasions in May. We are confident that the US Government understand the seriousness of our request.
