To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what analysis or research his Department has conducted or commissioned on the relationship between outside temperature and (a) energy expenditure and (b) energy usage among (i) elderly people and (ii) people in fuel poverty.

The Department has not commissioned any research specifically on these relationships. However, it has a number of monitoring projects underway primarily for other purposes, and some of these may allow limited analysis of such relationships in a few years time.
