To ask the Secretary of State for Defence

(1) what consultation has taken place with the Service Chiefs on the future of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme;

(2) what recent discussions he has had with the hon. Member for East Renfrewshire about the future of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme; and what the outcomes of those discussions were.

The three Service secretariats were consulted as part of the Houghton review. A Two Star AFPS military champion has been appointed to co-ordinate the Department's support to the scheme.

I had the opportunity to discuss the scheme with Mr Murphy, on 8 July 2013 by telephone and informally in the House on 2 September 2013, and have advised him of developments in answer to written parliamentary questions on 2 September 2013, Hansard, column 49W.
