To ask the Secretary of State for Health what recent discussions he has had on the introduction of standardised packaging for cigarettes and tobacco products; and if he will make statement.

The Government set out the current position on standardised tobacco packaging in a written ministerial statement on 12 July 2013, Hansard, columns 53-54WS. The Government has decided to wait before making a decision on standardised packaging. This allows time to benefit from the experience of Australia, where they introduced standardised packaging in December 2012. This remains the Government's position.
