To ask the Secretary of State for Education what assessment he has made of the number of primary school places available in (a) South Yorkshire and (b) Barnsley in (i) 2013, (ii) 2014 and (iii) 2015.

The Department collects information from each local authority on the number of school places (school capacity) in state funded primary and secondary schools (except special schools) via an annual survey(1).

South Yorkshire consists of four local authorities: Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. The following information relates to the position as at May 2012 and provides the number of places to be added by 2013/14 as advised by each local authority:
