In Lancashire, the Home Office has provided £20,000 per year from 2011-12 until 2014-15 to part fund an Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) post that is attached to the SAFE Centre (Sexual Assault Referral Centre) based at Royal Preston Hospital. This centre has a children's wing where support as well as medical examination is provided from the outset. The ISVA post provides support and advocacy to victims or rape and sexual violence and the signposting to counselling services as required on a case by case basis by the victim.
