House of Lords written question – answered at on 30 July 2013.
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what applications have been received for licences for export of small arms ammunition to Burma; and from whom.
In the last 5 years there has been one licence application for export of small arms ammunition to Burma. The application was for .22 calibre sporting cartridges and was submitted in May 2011. The application was refused because the export of small arms ammunition would have been a breach of the EU arms embargo. Export licence applications are submitted in confidence and contain commercially sensitive information.
