To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what steps her Department has taken to work with Overseas Territory governments to improve their standards of transparency.

DFID encourages Overseas Territories (OT) to undertake their business in a transparent fashion. Technical support has been made available to OT Governments to strengthen both financial and audit functions.

We welcome the increased availability and public disclosure of government documentation available online from many of the Territories but recognise that more needs to be done. Recent reform plans agreed by DFID with OT governments require that any new policies and legislation to be the result of wider consultation, and more transparent procedures.
