To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what strategies he has to create apprenticeships in his Department; and what plans he has to promote such strategies.

DECC is committed to the Government's Social Mobility Strategy and we aim to offer up to 50% of our administrative officer level vacancies to apprenticeships annually. The Department was actively involved in National Apprenticeship Week 2013. DECC's apprentices worked closely with our partner developing case studies and taking part in the events. We have also engaged with Civil Service Learning on the Fast Track Apprenticeship Scheme with a view to participation after the pilot.
