To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what assessment he has made of the annual costs to the court system of litigants in person.

No assessment has been made of the annual costs to the court system of litigants in person.

The Department has published a review of published research evidence on civil and family litigants in person, which found that the impact on case duration, a key driver of cost, was mixed. This research can be found online:
