To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what proportion of the new £969 million funding for climate change projects in developing countries is planned to support reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.

No decision has yet been taken on what proportion of the new funding for climate change projects in developing countries will be used to tackle deforestation and reduce forest degradation. The funding will be shared between DFID, the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and discussions will take place between these Departments in the coming months.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
