To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what strategies she has to create apprenticeships in her Department; and what plans she has to promote such strategies.

The Home Department's apprenticeship scheme has been in operation since 2008 and the Department currently has seven apprentices recruited externally through this route.

Apprenticeships are also available to existing staff through Learning and Development provision.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
