To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what guidance her Department plans to issue on the enforcement of new penalty notices for misuse of the middle lane on motorways.

The Home Office does not plan to issue any guidance. Enforcement of the law is an operational matter for the police.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
